Peschiera del Garda is one of the most charming towns on the lake, with its Venetian ramparts, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the streets of the centre bustling with restaurants and ice-cream shops. But there's more: it is also the perfect starting point for those who love cycling.
In this article, we’ll take you through the most scenic routes around Peschiera.
A classic that never goes out of fashion. The Mincio cycle path starts right in Peschiera and follows the river for about 45 km to Mantua, passing through countryside, old stone mills and historic small towns such as Monzambano and the renowned Borghetto sul Mincio.
The route is entirely paved and flat, making it ideal for families with children or anyone looking for a relaxing ride surrounded by nature and history. Along the way, you’ll find rest spots, picnic areas, and picture-perfect views that are sure to impress.
Don’t miss the cycle path that runs from Peschiera del Garda along the eastern shore, passing through the lovely town of Lazise and ending in Bardolino.
During the ride, you can enjoy a variety of stunning views always remaining right by the lake, among harbours, small beaches and olive trees.
It’s perfect for an easy morning or late afternoon ride, allowing you to savour an ice cream or a glass of Bardolino DOC wine with a beautiful lake view
From Peschiera, you can easily get to Sirmione and then Desenzano by bike, with a total route of around 16 km.
Sirmione is famous for its thermal baths, the Grotte di Catullo (Catullus Caves) and the Scaligero castle, from which there is a splendid view of the lake. Continuing on, you arrive in Desenzano, where you can visit the Roman villa, the Antiquarium, the old harbour and the medieval castle.
A perfect route to combine nature, history and relaxation on Lake Garda.
